Coming together

Everything is still coming together for a Halloweenish release of “Lisa Unwound”. After that, I’m figuring a new release every 1-3 months, one for each new “chapter” completed of the game.

I also plan a parallel set of “Notes” releases, one for each game release, to act as sort of a “travel guide” for each new version of the game, with strategies to complete levels, hints on Easter eggs, etc. These will eventually be for supporters (hey, they give away all the secrets to each version of the game!), though the first two or three will be free for everyone, so you can see what the notes look like and how they can help you play all the parts of the game.

I’m figuring to also lower the cost for the uncensored version down to the 5$ tier for this game.

That’s about it on this front, other than the fact that Thelonius keeps running off with my mouse– ehr, that is, running off with Dr Diggler’s mouse. And then Dr Diggler — Dr Diggler, not me, since I’m not in the game with Thelonius, and he’s not in the real world with me — Diggler has to go find the lost mouse.

Ah, the travails of having fictional characters that can’t remember that they’re just fictional …

Until next time, live well,
Wolfgang

More ideas than will fit in a single release

a typical Diggler day

Work is progressing well with the new “Lisa Unwound” game. We’re still on target for a Halloween-ish release of version 1. Or I guess that would be version 2 since the original release a few years back (that this game is an expansion of) would sort of be version 1.

I’ll figure out the “proper” number for each version before the end of October. Regardless, this updated expansion will have multiple versions. I have a few too many story arcs I want to include to make you guys wait until I get them all done for a single version.

I’ve pondered the question in years past: how do you avoid having monumental releases that take 2, 3, 5 years or more to complete? What’s the best way to release partial versions along the way, so that people can be playing and enjoying them before everything is finally finished?

I’ll talk more about it next time, but I’m thinking that we can make clean versions by saying, you get this character to this stage, and that character to that stage, and that’s version/release N. Both characters have more they can do, but that will be in version/release N+1. If we’re clear about what stage each character can get to in version N — I think that will be a clean way to do partial interim releases, to have fun with the game all along the way, instead of waiting for one huge finish at the end..

Until next time, live well,
Wolfgang

Good to be back to games

It’s good to be back to writing games. The visual novel was fun, but it didn’t do anything under the hood. Now I get to weave secret Easter eggs into the code for you guys again.

Actually, I’m finding myself expanding most of the parts of the earlier version of “Lisa Unwound.” This version will be a bit more focused and more consistent. And larger (ver 1 was on the smaller side). The October release won’t be the entire game, but it will be plenty enough to have fun.

On a more pragmatic note, the age verification laws of some states are having an impact. Since I started sharing my creations, I’ve tried to keep pretty much everything — every game, every comic, every visual novel — available. The free stuff stayed available for free, the naughtier stuff as a free bonus for supporters.

If you haven’t explored them and still want to, take a look at them soon. I’m going to start pulling down the older stuff by the next time I give a status update in about three weeks. I want to to keep the last project (A Matter of Will) up, along with the current project. I need to reduce my exposure (pardon the pun) of places I might have accidentally let a woman be show with less than 30% of her body covered — stuff like that.

Until next time, live well,
Wolfgang

Don’t you have IT guys for this?

Don’t you have IT guys to do this stuff, Dr Diggler?

I talked the ladies into–

I mean, if I were Dr Diggler, I would have talked the ladies into helping with getting everything copied over and configured on the new machine. And of course, the ladies provide distractions themselves.

I have some friends worried that Patreon or Subscribestar will go nuts removing all NSFW games like Steam and especially itch.io did. I’m proceeding like those two will stay sane. If Patreon does wipe out all games, I’ll switch to primarily use SubscribeStar, and vice versa. If they both go nuts — well, I’ll still be making little games (because I like telling stories) and will look around for some other way to share them.

Work is proceeding, and I’m still aiming for a Halloweenish release for Lisa 2.0.

Until next time, live well,
Wolfgang

Thelonius, you did … what?

by Fugue on July 10, 2025 at 5:09 pm

Professor, uh … Maid Williams

I’m still wearing the same expression as Diggler in the attached image. My main computer crashed, and I’ve been trying to salvage from it, so didn’t get as much done as I’d hoped this period.

I’ve recovered most of LISA’s images and am still reconstructing the python and dscript code I use in my workflow (I do a lot of postwork on images I create, and part of that involves a lot of repetitive tasks that take a long time — and maybe give you repetitive stress injuries — if you don’t automate what you can).

Anyway, nearly back up to where I was before Thelonius’s little mishap– ehr, I mean the computer crashing. The computer crashing is what I mean — Thelonius doesn’t even really exist to have any mishaps, right?

Until next time, live well,
Wolfgang
