She keeps trying to pull a part off, and he keeps being thrilled by it, damn him! WAY too thrilled!
Maybe with clean, non-slippery hands, she can do a better job of things …
Chapter 8 of book 2 of “A Matter of Will” is now available. I did again find a couple non-R images to include in this announcement, though it took some hunting.

Hope everyone had wonderful holidays! I’m reminded of Whistler from the old movie Sneakers. James Earl Jones is collecting the team’s demands to turn over the device in question to him. Redford wants his criminal record cleared. Phoenix wants a date with the female FBI agent at the scene (agent Mary: Wait. You can have anything you want, and you’re asking for my phone number?). Poitier wants a vacation package for him and his wife. Ackroyd wants a customized winnebago. James Earl Jones turns to Whistler, exasperated.
James Earl Jones: And what do YOU want?
Whistler: Peace on earth, good will toward men.
Jones: We're the FBI, man! We don't DO that sort of thing!
reply: You're just gonna have to try.
Jones: (sullenly) All right, I'll see what I can do.
A commitment made: toward peace on earth, good will toward men. Hold them to it.
Well, we posted chapter 7 before Christmas, and I’ll be working on chapter 8 now for release in about two weeks. There are 28 chapters in book 2, so we have about 21 more chapters to go. Our heroes start wrapping up with Letty and Jackson before about chapter 13. Then we start into the final arcs of the story around chapter 16 and especially 17.
When I started the visual novel for “A Matter of Will” (AMOW), I figured I’d soon be working on two games in parallel — the mostly linear AMOW visual novel; and a much more complex, player-driven actual game.
So that’s today’s news: I spent Christmas holidays preparing for a second game that I’ll be working on in parallel to AMOW. I don’t have a title yet. I do have most of the characters sketched out. Players will need to work for what you want (obedient naked ladies!) in the game.
I don’t have enough together on the second game yet to release anything. So I’m going to stick to the current schedule of a new chapter of AMOW every fortnight or so until I do. After I get the first beta release I may shift to alternating, a fortnight on it, a fortnight on AMOW. You guys can give me feedback on what proportion of time to spend on each one after you see them. Regardless, I’m going to finish AMOW — the story is written, I’m just visual-novelizing it for the visually-inclined.
So I’ll keep you posted, and expect the next chapter of AMOW in about two weeks!

Both households make it through the night, then Kyle and Kayla and Bill return to Jackson and Letty for more practice and lessons.
A little bit of trivia. I actually loved Letty just a little bit in this chapter. She’s not a terribly nice person. But sometimes when she’s cornered, and she doesn’t have time to think too much about it, she does the right thing. Like immediately, wholeheartedly supporting her sister, having certainty enough for the both of them; and supporting her husband during his own confusion. I hadn’t planned this scene back when when I was outlining what I wanted to happen in the story. But sometimes a character has a good idea that the author didn’t think of. And sometimes you give her enough lead to run with it. And sometimes it’s even worth keeping afterward.
Ha — excuse me. Just pontificating on my writing process there.
But when someone shows courage, you should recognize that. And Letty showed more courage here than I was expecting her to. Cool!

Leticia is remarkably docile for Bill. Kayla keeps loudly announcing how much Jackson is enjoying this. And Jackson is humiliated until he “fires all weapons” again. Kyle lords it over Kayla how well-behaved he made her be. And Bill plays Karma Santa Claus.

Chapter 7 is large, but not huge like chapter 6 was. If I tried to split it in half like I did with chapter 6, the two halves wouldn’t be big enough on their own. So what I’m going to do is take 3 weeks to complete chapter 7, and release it on Dec 21. Then I’m going to take two weeks vacation over Christmas and New Years. But I’ll still touch base with you all at the end of the two weeks, on Jan 4, when I plan to have a little surprise for you guys. Then two weeks after that, on Jan 18, I’ll have chapter 8 ready for you. In subsequent months, chapters 9 and 10 are both on the larger side, so we may have to do the three-week thing again for them — I’ll let you know when we get closer.

Kyle has prepped Kayla for the visit to Jackson and Leticia — no deaths, no amputations, no torture. However, Bill has some surprisingly strong feelings about how his big sister was hurt by the two (Really, Jackson? You’re running off with the BABYSITTER?). Bill lashes them with some sharp words, but Letty is so pathetically in awe that he might as well be pounding a sack of wet fur. Don’t worry though, she’s going to have to think a few things through.
I’ll wrap up the rest of chapter 6 in two weeks, around Nov 30.
