Counterpoint for ‘Detective Chicks’

by Fugue on June 26, 2022 at 6:16 pm

Okay, picked the second project I’ll be working on at the same time as “Detective Chicks.” I usually work on two at a time, so that one can be simmering in my subconscious while I’m working on the other one and vice versa. (I’ve also been guilty at times of working on one to procrastinate on the other — but if you have two projects going, you’re still getting useful work accomplished. It’s a way of being sneakin’ and tricking your subconscious into doing more and better.)

I’ve been promising the story for “A Matter of Will” for a long time. I have the complete first draft written over the last couple years — not edited, but at least written, so there is guaranteed to be an ending for it. AMOW will have choices, but overall will be more linear than “Detective Chicks.” The pretty lady above and below is Jennifer Moore, one of our heroines, a mother that highly disapproves of her college-aged daughter’s sudden behavior changes.

With the 4th of July falling in the next couple weeks, it will probably be three weeks before I touch base with you all again. My girlfriend and I will be celebrating the holiday with her parents. I’ll wish everyone in the US a great holiday (and everyone else a great couple weeks!).

Live well,

Angie, I don’t think Jessica Fletcher ever stripped to get her man …

And Sherlock Holmes never had to bare boobs to solve a case, did he?

But such seem to be the travails of cute MILF amateur sleuths. Or at least future amateur sleuths — our three ladies are just starting to get the idea of solving mysteries in this first episode.

This is Rylie Doyle, the last of our three nosy housewives — ehrr, amateur sleuths, I mean. She’s a factory worker with a college-age son that still lives at home while he attends. Her ex is — well, she refers to him as the Pr*ck, and he is not welcome at her home. Her kryptonite spot involves the small of her back — she just melts when someone strokes fingernails from the backs of her thighs up to the top of her butt cleavage. That technique is how the Pr*ck got her knocked up way back when. There’s more to that story, involving great tragedy and life-saving chance happenings, but we’ll get into that in the game.

Been busy this week scribbling more story and crafting more of our ladies’ game. More to come later …

Live well,

Okay, a librarian, a dental hygienist and a factory worker walk into a mystery …

by Fugue on May 31, 2022 at 4:10 pm
Posted In: News

For the last couple weeks I’ve been focusing mostly on “Detective Chicks” and letting “Hero Falls” simmer in my subconscious. It’s pretty certain that’s the order they’ll be coming out in — “Detective Chicks” first.

I’m trying scribbling out the text version, and then implementing that in the game this time. I think “Dollars and Sins” was the last time I took that approach, but it worked out fairly well that time. Plus, I think I’m able to work the plot out a little better when writing the text than when working on the game (though I think dialogue seems to work better when I’m crafting out games — go figure).

The subtitle for “Detective Chicks” is the title of this post: a librarian, a dental hygienist and a factory worker walk into a mystery. You’ve already seen the librarian — that was Angie Holloway, the redhead from two posts ago (https://www.blog.fuguetales.com/2022/04/25/angie-holloway/). The dental hygienist, Debbie Buckley, is the blonde attached to this post. She has a college-aged son, Daniel; and a husband, Dennis, that is sort of a HISN (Husband I’m Stuck with Now, Debbie says). And of course her two dearest friends, Angie (goody two shoes that has read too many mysteries and keeps getting the trio into trouble) and Rylie (we’ll meet her next post).

While I’m carving out the plot, I’m also trying out and refining characters, and I have pretty much everyone cast now except for a neighborhood guy named Harvey (and I’m not sure yet even how much of a role Harvey will play in the game or not).

Next post will have an image of Rylie Doyle, the third member of our clique of friends. I think her profile worked out fairly nice.

Enticing Songs from Two Muses

by Fugue on May 10, 2022 at 6:21 pm

As I get my old tools dusted off and get my hand back into weaving game logic, I have two muses for the moment, both singing enticing songs.

On the one side is a game that wants to be called “Detective Chicks.” It’s more light-hearted with three cute MILF housewives that think they might have more luck solving cases than the local police, and all the terribly embarrassing predicaments that puts them in. The previous two posts are of potential characters in that game. Angela Holloway (from the post just below) is the goody-two-shoes that really didn’t expect solving mysteries would involve all this stripping and nudity.

“Detective Chicks” will be geared toward episodes, in each of which our three MILFs take on “The Mystery of …”

On the other side, a muse is singing for a family in a little town by a waterfall called “Hero Falls.” Here’s the two-sentence synopsis if I were to scribble the tale out in text (which I might):

It’s that moment, when you know the heroine is about to bring down the villain, to feed him his just desserts. Only … why is she tasting the just desserts herself instead?!

It’s more serious, maybe more sexy, and unfolds naturally in about seven episodes. Each episode has a natural ending point, where another piece of the mystery is revealed, and each episode would probably be a linked mini-game in itself.

The character above is a sketch for one of the two main female characters in episode 1. Her hair might change — I’m not totally pleased with it yet.

Anyway, I’m jotting down notes and doodling out test sketches for both. It’s really a matter of which one comes together first, which will be the first release. The other will probably be pretty quick behind the first release of the other.

I’ll keep you guys posted on progress (and I’ll upload the sketch of lady above, Julie Mosby, if I do change her hairstyle again).

Angie Holloway

Our heroine, Angie.

I’ve told a few folks I’m going to do a short game or two that are not connected with previous series until I get my hand back in to crafting game logic (so I don’t botch anything). One of the fussiest parts (but also a fun part) of working out a story is getting the characters to look right. Once you do that, the character helps *you* figure out what she or he will do in a given set of circumstances.

This is Angie (Angeline) Holloway, a 38-year-old mother. She works at the library and always liked old Agatha Christie novels and old Murder She Wrote episodes. She’s going to get the opportunity in the upcoming game to try to solve a mystery or two, though it may turn out to be a little different than she expected. A little less glam, a little more embarrassing.

Stay tuned,
Fugue
